Disney Marathon & LA County Fair

Disney Marathon (Sept 1, Sunday):  For participating team members only - Students were given WCHS permission slips and the Disney media release waiver this morning.  Both forms must be sign by parents and returned during "O" Period tomorrow (Friday, August 30).  I have attached the media release for you -- just in case "I lost it" or "I forgot."   Team is to report to to the school by 3:30am.  Bus will depart at 3:45am.  The bus will not wait - so team members must be on time!   Bus will return by noon.


LA County Fair (Sept 5, Thursday):  Team is to report to Mrs J class room by 12:30pm (estimated).  Bus will depart WCHS at 1pm.  The bus will not wait - so team members must be on time! Team will return by 9pm.

Practice: Week 08/26-08/31

Mon. (Aug. 26): Pom routine only, 4 to 8pm @ The Lab.  Team members were informed this morning who is to report to practice. The rest of the team = no practice  

Tues. (Aug. 27): Everyone Practice, 4 to 8pm @ WCHS Quad, in front of gym

Wed. (Aug. 28): Everyone Practice, 4 to 8pm @ WCHS Quad, in front of gym

Thurs. (Aug. 29): Pom routine only, time to be announced @ The Lab.  The rest of the team = no practice. 

Fri. (Aug. 30): No practice

Sat. (Aug. 31): Pom routine only, time to be announced @ The Lab.  The rest of the team = no practice.

LA County Fair, September Fundraiser & Team Bonding

The September Booster Parent meeting on September 5th will be rescheduled to another date. TBD

Thurs., September 5:  LA County Fair Parade.....more information coming soon

September Fundraiser:   3rd Annaul Dance-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, September 21. This event benefits not only the team but also St Jude Children's Research Hospital   Attached is the form for team members to receive pledges.  The team will be dancing for 5 straight hours (with breaks) to different styles of dance.  The team has pledged to earn a minimum of $50.  Money will be due on Monday, September 16.  Note:  flyer indicates Sept 15 - typo, sorry.  Donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided upon request.

Team Bonding Event:  There will be an overnight team sleepover to be held at the Booster President's house.  Team is to discuss this event with their parents.  The dates for consideration is:  Sept 14-15, Sept 21-22, Sept 28-29, or Oct 5-6.     The event will be chaperoned by some members of the Booster Board.  Kids are to bring sleeping bag, pillow, pj's, swim suit, beach towel, overnight bag, snacks to be shared by all, dvds, wii games, etc.

Team Picture & Personal Ads in Football Program

Booster Parents,
The Football Boosters are providing an opportunity for our team to be in their football program.  There will be a WCHS Dance/Drill and All Male page with team pictures = one of Dance/Drill, All Male, and Coaches/Captains.  We will be taking the pictures after Tuesday's practice in the gym.  All team members are to wear their gold tees, black shorts, and performance shoes (white are girls/black are boys).

Also, the football program will have personal ads.  Attached is the form for parents to submit a personal ad addressed to their child(ren) = $35 for quarter page ad, $50 for half page, and ** seniors only **  $75 for full page ad.   Send a Word document of how you want to layout the page.  You may include a picture in JPEG format.  Submittal must be in by Thursday, Aug 22 (due date extended) to Pauline Aselin at wchsfootballboosters@yahoo.com.  Pauline's contact number is (626) 833-3089.  



Practice: Week 08/19-08/24

Mon. (Aug. 19): 4 to 7pm in front of the WCHS gym

Tues. (Aug. 20): 4 to 8pm front of the WCHS gym.  Practice will end at 7pm.  Immediately after, team is to change into gold tees & black shorts and report to gym to take the pictures for the football program.

Wed. & Thurs. (Aug. 21 & 22): 4 to 7pm in front of the WCHS gym.

Fri. (Aug. 23): No practice

Sat. (Aug. 24): Coed Dance Only-9 to 3:30pm @ The Lab.  There will be a 30 min. lunch break.  Per Coach: If you're absent, you will not be casted in coed dance.

Sunday, September 1:  Disney Marathon
The team is to decide tomorrow (Aug 14) if they are going to make this a commitment.  For participation, Disney provides each team member with a park hopper ticket valued at $125.  So if the team commits to this event and students do not show up, the park hopper ticket price will be charged to the student's account.  Please discuss tonight with your child on participation.

Thursday, September 5: LA County Fair

Team will participate with Band.  More details to come.

Saturday, September 21: Dance-a-Thon

The team is to decide what charity they will be dancing for on Friday, August 16.  If you have a suggested charity, please discuss with your child and have them give the suggestion to their captains.  The sponsor forms for the donations will be distributed my the end of next week (August 23).

Luau

Luau Friday, August 9, from 6 to 9pm, in front of the WCHS Gym.  Potluck list was distributed at our August 1 meeting.  If you have yet to sign up, contact JoAnn and she will let you know what is needed.  Hawaiian attire is highly encouraged  :)  Also, you may want to bring a chair.
