All Male Costumes Goal

Congratulations on becoming a member of the Large All Male Team. Our donation/fundraising goal for this team is $4,160. As requested, I've attached a breakdown of what is included to reach our total goal. We must begin working towards our goal in order to meet deadlines. Our first goal date is Monday, January 6, 2014, in order to get the costumes the team needs to perform. Remember, special fundraisers can be organized to help reach team goals. Our annual Winter Celebration event is right around the corner.  Winter Celebration is an all day dance competition hosted by our team.  This is also a major fundraiser for our team.  Our team does NOT perform at Winter Celebration.  Our entire team, along with adult volunteers, work the long day, hosting dance teams/studios that come from all over to perform.  In addition to the performers we welcome about 1500 spectators to watch the show and visit our snack bar/vendors.  I have attached a copy of the performer registration packet.  Please feel free to pass this on to family or friends that are part of the team and would like to participate in this event.  All registrations must be submitted with the required information, as instructed on the registration package.

Students
It is mandatory for all students to attend set-up on Friday, 1/24 and the event on Saturday, 1/25. Student sign-up and information will be done with Mrs. Julien in zero period and all student issues should be discussed with Mrs. Julien.

Adult Volunteers/Job Descriptions
We ask that each student have at least 1 adult, volunteer for 1 shift.  Adult volunteers must be 18 years or older (No exceptions) and be able to stand long periods, if necessary.  No children will be allowed to attend with volunteering adults.  Adults will work along side with team members signed up for the same jobs.  Remember, everyone is there to work together and make this event successful. Sign-ups are on a first come, first serve basis, however, we reserve the right to make changes as deemed necessary.  Text or email me with your choice of shift & duty.  Please contact me directly if you have any special needs.

*Tabulations- Data Entry- Must be computer savvy & proficient in Microsoft Excel.

*Parking- Direct buses where they should park, welcome & direct teams from parking lot to Registration/Check-In.

*Registration/Check-In- Provide guest with information needed and direct them to their stage manager.

*Hospitality/First Aid- Answer questions, provide first aid items as requested.

*Locker Rooms- Observe that proper behavior is being conducted in locker rooms at all times.  Monitor and notify custodian of clean-ups and restock of supples in order to keep a safe and hospitable environment.

*50/50 & Raffle- Comfortable with money, enthusiastic/persuasive to sell tickets.

*Entrances & Exits- Extrances and exits constanly have spectators, teams and performers, coming and going.  You must be checking for proper wrist bands and NO food or open drinks at all times.  Doors have to open and close constantly and there will be times you have to leave people out.  You can not be easily intimidated and not uncomfortable with a little confrontation. 

*Snack Bar- Selling and preparing food items in our concession stands.

*Backup- You will be placed where ever help is needed and will relieve other stations for breaks.
 

Bingo Night-Kids Only Friday, December 13

Booster Parents,

The team decided to have their own fundraiser and will have a kids only Bingo night on Friday, Dec 13, from 6 to 9pm at Andrew Elam's house.  The kid participants will play $1 bingo (or purchase a pack for $8).  Prizes are $5 - $10 gift cards purchased personally by some of the booster boardmembers.


The Boosters will be there for support.  The team has already organized this event on their own; however, donations for their event are welcomed.


Also, reminder for Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser - forms are to be turned in on Friday, Dec 13.  The form indicated Fri, Dec12, in error but early submittal is always appreciated  :)

Applebee's Flapjack Fundraiser Dec. 21 & 22


Booster Parents,

Attached is the flyer for ordering the tickets for our Applebee's Flapjack fundraiser on December 21 and 22.  Our goal is to meet or exceed the last Applebee's we had in June, which raised approx $1,900.   Please submit the attached form and money no later than Friday, December 12.  Applebee's requires a minimum amount of tickets to be sold so if the minimum is not met, the event will be cancelled.  This is a very fun event and the kids enjoy being the servers, host/hostest, and bus boy/girl.

Congrats to our Varsity Song/Pom.  They took 1st place at USA Regionals in Chino Hills - and they qualified for Nationals!  Way to go girls!!!!

Also, I was at JV Large Military choreo today and the girls did great.  They were learning the routine so quickly it was amazing!  I am so excited for comp season to get here... just a few months away!

Studio: The Lab

In exchange for the free studio time, we provide The Lab with cleaning supplies monthly.  Due to the increased studio time, the cleaning supplies will change to bi-weekly.

From Nov 18 thru 22 will be donation week for The Lab. Every student is ask to donate:  

Toilet Tuesday = a package of toilet paper; 
Water Wednesday = case of water; 
Trashy Thursday = box of tall kitchen trash bags and/or a box of 42 gallon size heavy duty trash bag; 
Fresh Friday = 1 air freshener.   

JoAnn will keep the inventory at my house, and when supplies have exhausted there will be another The Lab donation week.

In October, we had our iPad Mini Opportunity Drawing Fundraiser.  The winning ticket was sold by Randy Ventanilla's mom, Evangeline.  She sold the winning ticket to her co-worder Rodella Golo.  Mrs. Golo, who's daughter happens to be a WCHS Alumni, stopped by All Male's Friday practice to pick up her new iPad Mini.  She graciously posed for a photo with Randy and the All Male Team - see attached.

Disney Marathon & LA County Fair

Disney Marathon (Sept 1, Sunday):  For participating team members only - Students were given WCHS permission slips and the Disney media release waiver this morning.  Both forms must be sign by parents and returned during "O" Period tomorrow (Friday, August 30).  I have attached the media release for you -- just in case "I lost it" or "I forgot."   Team is to report to to the school by 3:30am.  Bus will depart at 3:45am.  The bus will not wait - so team members must be on time!   Bus will return by noon.


LA County Fair (Sept 5, Thursday):  Team is to report to Mrs J class room by 12:30pm (estimated).  Bus will depart WCHS at 1pm.  The bus will not wait - so team members must be on time! Team will return by 9pm.

LA County Fair, September Fundraiser & Team Bonding

September Fundraiser:   3rd Annaul Dance-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, September 21. This event benefits not only the team but also St Jude Children's Research Hospital   Attached is the form for team members to receive pledges.  The team will be dancing for 5 straight hours (with breaks) to different styles of dance.  The team has pledged to earn a minimum of $50.  Money will be due on Monday, September 16.  Note:  flyer indicates Sept 15 - typo, sorry.  Donations are tax deductible and a receipt will be provided upon request.

Team Bonding Event:  There will be an overnight team sleepover to be held at the Booster President's house.  Team is to discuss this event with their parents.  The dates for consideration is:  Sept 14-15, Sept 21-22, Sept 28-29, or Oct 5-6.     The event will be chaperoned by some members of the Booster Board.  Kids are to bring sleeping bag, pillow, pj's, swim suit, beach towel, overnight bag, snacks to be shared by all, dvds, wii games, etc.

Team Picture & Personal Ads in Football Program

Booster Parents,
The Football Boosters are providing an opportunity for our team to be in their football program.  There will be a WCHS Dance/Drill and All Male page with team pictures = one of Dance/Drill, All Male, and Coaches/Captains.  We will be taking the pictures after Tuesday's practice in the gym.  All team members are to wear their gold tees, black shorts, and performance shoes (white are girls/black are boys).

Also, the football program will have personal ads.  Attached is the form for parents to submit a personal ad addressed to their child(ren) = $35 for quarter page ad, $50 for half page, and ** seniors only **  $75 for full page ad.   Send a Word document of how you want to layout the page.  You may include a picture in JPEG format.  Submittal must be in by Thursday, Aug 22 (due date extended) to Pauline Aselin at wchsfootballboosters@yahoo.com.  Pauline's contact number is (626) 833-3089.

The team is to decide tomorrow (Aug 14) if they are going to make this a commitment.  For participation, Disney provides each team member with a park hopper ticket valued at $125.  So if the team commits to this event and students do not show up, the park hopper ticket price will be charged to the student's account.  Please discuss tonight with your child on participation.

Saturday, September 21: Dance-a-Thon

The team is to decide what charity they will be dancing for on Friday, August 16.  If you have a suggested charity, please discuss with your child and have them give the suggestion to their captains.  The sponsor forms for the donations will be distributed my the end of next week (August 23).

Wednesday and Thursday (July 24 and 25)- California Adventure Performances. Mrs Julien will be distributing the permission slip either Monday or Tuesday. Students are to report to the school - in front of the Principal's office - by 6:30 am. Bus will depart at 7am. Volunteer drivers are to bring the students home. The students will start solititing rides by tomorrow - if they have not done so already.
 
Friday (July 26)- Beach day - Santa Monica Beach. Report to Charter Oak Park's parking lot by 8:30am. Two charter buses will be leaving by 9am sharp!

Spring/Summer Team Schedules - Edison HS Showcase - Diva Dance-Off

Below are calendars for the months of June thru August that indicates upcoming team events, summer school schedule, and the mark of the first day of school.

May 5, Sunday – Small All Male and Dance/Drill routines have been invited to perform at Edison High School's dance showcase. We may need approved drivers, so please notify me if you can drive. Meet at Mrs. Julien's classroom by 3:30pm (time is approximate). If parents want to attend, cost is $8 at Edison's door.

Diva Dance-Off has been rescheduled to May 22, Wednesday. Come hungry - Juan's Tacos and Smooth Operator will be serving starting at 5pm – event starts at 6:30pm. Tickets are $7 pre-sale, which includes a ticket for an iPad Mini door prize. Tickets will be distributed at our May 2 Booster Parents meeting.

On March 26, Tuesday, from 7:30 to 9pm, the team will have dress rehearsal. Parents are welcome to attend and provide critique. Also, please note that the performance times indicated on the attached Nationals schedule are tentative. We are still waiting for the final lineup. 2013 Winter Celebration

To Booster Parents, Alumni, and The Team, Thanks to everyone for their support and hard work. Winter Celebration was a very memorable and exhausting experience for all. Several complements were received about our event and everyone had a blast! Without all of your assistance, this event would not be so successful. On behalf of the Booster Board, we thank you for your tireless effort. This year, we had a photo booth next to the snack shop to capture silly memories. Fun, Fun, Fun! :)

DD & AM Team's Snack Shop Vandalized

Our Snack Shop located on the football field, home side, was vandalized. We do not know when it happened but assume it was between the last time it was used, which was about November 15, to this past weekend. A Board member happened to be at the football field for an unrelated event and noticed the door had plastic hanging on it. She was in the process of opening the door when it swung open. It is estimated about $500 worth of supplies was stolen. The equipment looks like it is fine, but we will not know until mid-week if it works. The school’s custodians will clean up the mess so we can get to the equipment. The police were called and a report was made. The supplies taken were for Winter Celebration. If possible, we are asking for donations. Listed below is a brief list that we are aware of what was taken. For those of you who have worked the Snack Shop, remember items were there = it is all gone. We thank you, in advance, for any support you are able to give. Spoons; Forks; Napkins; Bowls – used for the Chicken Bowls; Boats, 3-lbs size – used for the Baked Potatoes; Boats, 2-lbs size – used for the Nachos; Coffee Mate; Powder Hot Chocolate Mix; Salt; Pepper; Coffee Stirs; Coffee Cups, 8 oz; Ketchup; Mayonnaise; Mustard; Relish; Jalapenos; Sodas – variety; Gatorade; Monster; Hamburger meat; Cheese Nachos Sauce; Chili con Carne; Teriyaki Sauce; Teriyaki Glaze Nacho Chips; Cup of Noodles.

Important Reminders - Account Balances/Raffle Ticket/ Winter Celebration

Parents, 

Account balances must not have a negative balance of more than $50 in order for a team member to perform at competitions.  This Friday, January 25, is the deadline for accepting payments for the upcoming competition.  If there is a financial hardship, please contact us to make arrangements.
  
Also, the iPad Mini raffle ticket stubs and money are to be turned in this week – January 21 thru 25.

January 2013 Parent Booster Meetings - Important Information

Booster Parents – The January meeting is rescheduled to Wednesday, January 9, at 7pm in Mrs. Julien’s classroom.   Winter Celebration’s work assignments will be discussed.  This will be the last opportunity for you to choose where you prefer to work.  Parents who have yet to sign up will be assigned to a location. 

The final meeting for Winter Celebration will be on January 17 at 7pm in Mrs. Julien’s classroom.  All parents will be given the details of their work assignments.  Please do not miss this very important meeting.  In order to have a successful event, we need all of the parents’ help.  Thank you in advance  J

Reminder – Bring your trash bags of aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles to the January 7th meeting.  We received $50 last month and, hopefully, we all should have more bags due to the recent holidays.  All I ask is to – please – to not mix the bags.  Keep plastics in one bag, aluminum in another, etc.  Thanks for your support.
